Local rescue groups bring adoptable dogs and cats to our facility most Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. Humane Society cats can be adopted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from noon until 4:00 p.m. We need volunteers to help on Sundays, and help with cat adoptions during the week when we are open.
Assist with the immediate needs of dogs and cats who are being cared for by the Humane Society. Volunteer opportunities include transporting animals to the Spay/Neuter Clinic, Feline Cuddlers, Litter Box Scoopers, cleaning carriers used for animal transporting, etc.
Building & Grounds
Assist the Building and Grounds Chairperson with the general maintenance and upkeep of the HCHS building and grounds. Help is needed mowing, trimming, weeding, washing windows, sweeping floors, cleaning doors, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning pet bowls, pet towel and blanket laundry, etc.
Community Cat Program
TNR is the process of humanely trapping free roaming cats, having them spayed or neutered, vaccinating them, having their left ear “tipped,” and then returning the cat to the location it was living. We need trappers, colony caregivers, transporters, and foster homes.
Indoor Dog Play Day includes games, vendors, exhibits, pet massage, food, dog competitions, dog tricks, etc. GA totally indoor Great activity for the whole family! Behind the scenes, we need publicity, booking exhibitors and local rescues, new game ideas. At the event, setup, breakdown, check-in, running games, working Humane Society booth.
Assist with educating the community about the needs of animals. Design humane education programs, teach Scout troops, Public Speaking, teaching Pet Responsibility in classrooms at area schools, develop a summer camp at our building, develop a Read to the Kitten program, etc.
We need special people who can open their heart and home to a dog or cat in temporary need. Commitments can be as little as one week. HCHS provides everything for the foster. Sign Up Today!
We need volunteers to plan and/or work at fundraising events such as annual Wine, Beer & Spirits Tasting; Photos with Santa; and Silent Auctions. New fundraising ideas are welcomed!
Pet Food Pantry
Collecting donated pet food weekly from local retailers. Requires loading/unloading up to 50 lb bags of pet food, transporting in your vehicle from retailers to Humane Society. Bagging pet food during Humane Society open hours.
We need animal lovers with the following skills: Digital Marketing, Social Media Content, Weebly Website Editing, MailChimp, PowerPoint. We are looking for Writers for Blog, Newsletters and other content, Video Bloggers. Graphic Arts, E-News, Newsletter, Flyer design and distribution.
